Welcome to the Project Linus chapter website for Bakersfield, Clovis, Kern & Tulare Counties. I am Michele Willis and I am the Chapter Coordinator for Project Linus in our areas. Project Linus has been in existence nationwide for about 14 years with over 400 chapters. Our chapter in Kern County started as of December 2005. Project Linus is a volunteer organization.
Our local chapter was named the Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Group of the year for both 2007 and 2008.
Our mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers". It is also is an opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities to come together for the benefit of children. Project Linus has donated more than 3,000,000 blankets worldwide.
